Our adoption journey began when Sharon was diagnosed with breast Cancer in 2002. Our youngest daughter and fourth child had just celebrated her first birthday and we never thought she would be our final birth child. Sharon underwent chemotherapy, radiation and surgery following her diagnosis and God blessed us that she was cancer free. We never felt our home was complete and God laid adoption on our hearts. We had no financial means due to the financial burden of cancer, but knew God was calling us overseas. We adopted our first two children from Ethiopia in 2006. Ethiopia was not an option we ever imagined for an adoption again; it seemed like a once in a lifetime trip. A few months after we were home with our new children we received a DVD from Christian World Adoption regarding a need of over 200 kids in homes in Ethiopia. We knew at that time God was calling us to once again step out in faith. An anonymous couple donated the funds for our first adoption and we didn’t know how God was going to provide $33,000 for an adoption of four siblings! It was our desire to adopt the “unadoptable”…the sibling group of four. Our fear was that the children would be separated permanently if no one was willing to adopt four at once. We also knew that the oldest child was 13 and most people only adopted younger children. Oh, how God was faithful!!! He brought each amount of money as needed and even provided for us to have a larger home! We received three grants and one of them was from Hadassah Hope!
Maddie, Eska, Haddie Hope (Hadassah Hope) and Yordanos have been home with us for four months and are doing wonderfully! Our oldest daughter Maddie, came to know the Lord during her stay in Addis Ababa while waiting for us to arrive. We named our third daughter Hadassah Hope after your grant, as it was crucial in encouraging us and we love helping an orphan become an Esther.
God has blessed us with ten children and we are open to as many as He would bring to our home. The grants you provide change lives. We can’t thank you enough for your help in our time of need. |

"22But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 27Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you."
